Hello, I am Dr. Debra Volenec, veterinarian and founder of Angels At The End.  I was raised with veterinary medicine as my father was a veterinarian--back in the days where there were no emergency hospitals--so nights and weekends were often spent helping him care for sick pets.  I knew from a young age that my father had passed on his love of veterinary medicine to me.  I graduated as a veterinarian from the University of Florida in 1988 and came to Volusia County with my husband, who is not a veterinarian but warmly welcomes the many foster pets, rescues, and guide dog puppies that have followed me home over the years.  Our two daughters were born and raised here and we all have been blessed to participate in this community.  As a veterinarian, I helped clients and friends say goodbye to their pets--the family we choose for ourselves--and came to believe that they deserve a chance to be at home for their last moments if their owners wish.  In 2006, I began providing home euthanasia through my own house call practice, Angels At The End, so you can say goodbye to your angel at the end of their time with you in the comfort of your home. If your pet is nearing the end of their time with you, please discuss their care with your regular veterinarian.  Angels At The End is there for you and your pet should you decide that home euthanasia is an option you would like to consider.

My family has been a part of the Volusia County community since 1988, and here are some of the veterinary communities I where I also belong:

  • American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
  • Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA)
  • Alaska State Veterinary Medical Association (AKVMA)
  • International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (IVECCS).
  • International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC)
  • Veterinary Information Network (VIN) - an online forum of over 45,000 veterinarians worldwide!
  • Association of Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB)
  • In Home Pet Euthanasia - a national directory of veterinarians providing home euthanasia

When you call me, please leave a message if I am not able to pick up your call immediately. Angels At The End is all me and only me—the veterinarian, receptionist, driver—so when I am busy with a patient, or driving the car I can’t immediately answer your call. Thanks for trusting me to care for your angel at the end of their time with you.
